Welcome

At MiCCrobioTAckle, 12 doctoral candidates will participate in an intensive training-through-research program across disciplines and sectors. With academic and industrial partners in the fields of computational biology, microbiology, synthetic biology, clinical, and experimental science, our consortium is prepared to train the Europe’s future leader in microbiota medicine.

Our goal

Our project offers a unique opportunity to advance microbiota medicine as a new clinical approach to treat diseases and offer personalized, targeted, and preventive approaches to healthcare. We strive to deliver microbiome-based solutions to improve clinical management of cancer cachexia.

Our goal

Why cancer cachexia?

Cachexia is a common cancer complication causing significant muscle and fat loss. It affects the success of cancer treatment, reduces survival of cancer patients, and impacts on patient’s mental health and overall quality of life. The microorganisms living in the gut (the gut microbiome) play a crucial role in cancer cachexia.

How can MiccrobioTAckle help?

MiCCrobioTAckle brings together experts from diverse fields—computational biology, microbiology, synthetic biology, analytical science, clinical data, and experimental research—across academia and industry. Our multidisciplinary approach positions us to tackle some of the major challenges in cancer cachexia and microbiota medicine.
